My creative process is a way for me to discuss ideas visually without trying to define and harness them. I use the landscape as a source of structure – an arena to facilitate the expression of form, line, and color. When painting, I intuitively pursue possibilities. If I feel an inclination or impulse, I often act on it. Sometimes this produces pleasing results and sometimes it costs me hours of editing. I leave evidence of these decisions with the intent of presenting an honest work that embraces and owns its imperfections. In this struggle to find solutions, a relationship between tension and harmony is achieved. I am at peace with paradox. The value for me is not necessarily in finding answers, but rather in the process of exploring possibilities. It is in this way that I search for meaning in my work.
I seek to engage the observer in a way that invites careful attention, evokes sincerity, and provokes reflection.
